I went to my Reg’t... I passed along the ranks and spoke to the officers and men – told them it was to be a bloody strife – to stand firm and fire low – to close on their colors – be steady – to the officers I only said that they were expected to do their duty. I then took my place at the head of my men & we started –following the Irish Brigade. |
The Irish BrigadeThe Irish Brigade was one of the most famous and well-respected units in the Union Army.
