Civilian Experience: Surrounded by War
In this lesson we will explore the lives of civilians - or people not in the army - living in Fredericksburg during the Civil War. Though they did not enlist in the army, civilians were often heavily involved in the war effort providing supplies, information and support for soldiers. War changed the lives of all Americans, especially those living in the Fredericksburg area. We will investigate how these changes led people to many new decisions and the choices made by a variety of Fredericksburg inhabitants.
